Establishes West Michigan Chapter

"RFID Tribe is a vehicle for connecting, communicating and
collaborating around a relatively early stage technology" said Mark
Johnson, RFID Tribe President. "West Michigan has several initiatives
in RFID and a group like RFID Tribe helps focus the energy" he
continued.
RFID Tribe wires individuals into a global organization, allowing them
to take advantage of the organization's tools to connect with others,
to find experts and to collaborate around RFID technology. And with
diverse backgrounds members come from academia, commercial and
government sectors representing a broad cross section of disciplines
from scientists, engineers, operations and executives. RFID Tribe has
members in more than 25 countries and in more than 150 companies.
Active RFID Tribe chapters hold monthly meetings where one finds
participants listening to presentations on a broad range of RFID
subjects, networking and forming long term relationships. Individuals
participate for a variety of reasons, from finding people who
understand the technology to discovering funding for their RFID
related start up firm. But one thing the members have in common - the
desire to help each other navigate the RFID technology landscape. As a
result, RFID Tribe is often a catalyst for RFID commercial activity.
Dave Stein, BlueGranite Inc's Solutions Architect and the West
Michigan chapter's interim leader said, "We had started a local group
of individuals interested in RFID technology and were pleased to find
an organization like RFID Tribe. Many in our group were already RFID
Tribe members so we decided to make the group an active RFID Tribe
chapter and take advantage of RFID Tribe's collaboration tools".
The West Michigan chapter's first meeting is scheduled for December
10, 2004. The meeting is patterned after meetings in RFID Tribe's
other chapters - individuals making connections, hearing
presentations, eating lunch together and collaborating. Additionally,
those interested in helping the group West Michigan group flourish
will meet to discuss the chapter's leadership and structure.
The West Michigan chapter joins other new RFID Tribe chapters forming
in metropolitan areas. In January, RFID Tribe will open up a chapter
in Atlanta, Georgia. New chapters are often started by those
interested in collaborating around RFID technology.
"It is hard for me to miss an RFID Tribe meeting" said Rob Sabella,
President of OTA Training and RFID Tribe Dallas chapter member. He
continued, "The forum is a great source of active, productive industry
players as well as ideas and innovation."
